According to Deadline, actress Meaghan Rath, known for her roles in Being Human and Hawaii Five-0, is set to join the cast of Hulu’s How I Met Your Father for its second season, premiering on January 24th. Rath will bring the character of Parker, a co-worker of Jesse, played by Christopher Lowell (Interior Motives, Continental Divide), to life in the standalone sequel to CBS’ How I Met Your Mother.
The show follows Sophie (Hilary Duff, Lizzie McGuire, A Cinderella Story) as she tells her son the story of how she met his father, a story that takes viewers back to the year 2022. The series follows a close-knit group of friends as they navigate figuring out who they are, what they want in life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options. Francia Raisa (The Secret Life of the American Teenager), Tom Ainsley (The Royals, Versailles), Tien Tran (Hot Date, Candyman), and Suraj Sharma (Life of Pi, Wedding Season) also star in the series, with Kim Cattrall (Sex and the City, Filthy Rich), Daniel Augustin (Grey’s Anatomy, Dynasty), Ashley Reyes (Slayers, American Gods), and Josh Peck (Drake & Josh) recurring.
Production for the second season is currently underway in Los Angeles, with the show being written by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, who previously wrote Love, Simon, and Turtles All the Way Down together. The second season is executive produced by Aptaker, Berger, Carter Bays (How I Met Your Mother), Craig Thomas (Source Code, ER), Pam Fryman (Pretty Smart, Night Court), and Adam Londy (I Want You Back). Duff also serves as a producer. How I Met Your Father is a production of 20th Television.
Rath can next be seen in the Fox anthology series Accused, premiering on January 22nd. She also stars in the Canadian series Children Ruin Everything as Astrid, a mother of three. Rath has previously held lead roles in Being Human and Hawaii Five-0 and had recurring roles in New Girl, Banshee, and Secrets and Lies. She is represented by CAA, Hess Entertainment, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, et al.
