

On Thursday evening, Max’s new medical drama, The Pitt, wrapped its first season. According to a Max press release, the series finished its freshman run experiencing viewership growth each week. Since its two-episode premiere on January 9, the first 14 episodes have averaged 10 million global viewers; episode one tallying 16.2 million to date.
From The West Wing and ER writer John Wells and R. Scott Gemmill (NCIS: Los Angeles, ER), the medical procedural centers on the harrowing, realistic life happenings inside a Pittsburgh trauma medical center. Fifteen episodes followed a single 15-hour shift among the various doctors, nurses, staff, and patients seeking treatment for varied ailments.
The series, led by Noah Wyle’s (The Librarians, Enough) chief attendant, Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, features a revolving door of recurring characters including Tracey Ifeachor’s (Showtrial, Treason) Dr. Heather Collins, Patrick Ball’s (Law and Order) Dr. Frank Langdon, and Fiona Dourif’s (Shameless, The Blacklist) Dr. Cassie McKay.
New residents joining the center are Dr. Samira Mohan, portrayed by Supriya Ganesh (Billions, Grown-ish), Dr. Melissa King, played by Taylor Dearden (Breaking Bad, Sweet/Vicious), Dr. Trinity Santos, portrayed by Isa Briones (Goosebumps, Star Trek: Picard), Dr. Dennis Whitaker, portrayed by Gerran Howell (1917, Catch-22), and Dr. Victoria Javadi played by Shabana Azeez (The Hunting, The Letdown). Katherine LaNasa (The Campaign, Valentine’s Day) plays elite charge nurse, Dana Evans.
The series, produced by John Wells Productions with Warner Bros. Television, features Gemmill, Wells, and Wyle as executive producers. Michael Hissirch (Third Watch, Shameless), Erin Jontow (Emperor Of Ocean Park, Rescue: HI-Surf), and Simran Baidwan (Ordinary Joe, The Good Doctor) join them.
According to the press release, the series boasts a 97 percent critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes and received an early season renewal. All this amidst a legal battle between the show producers and Warner Bros. Television, from the estate of Michael Crichton, the deceased creator of the alleged inspiration for the show, ER.
All fifteen episodes of The Pitt season one are available to stream on Max.
