According to a recent press release, Max is gearing up for upcoming television releases, with many set to debut in October. Subscribers of Max and HBO fans should anticipate more scripted series, comedies, dramas and documentaries this October.

The Franchise is a new eight-episode comedy series that will poke fun at the world of superhero moviemaking. Starring Himesh Patel (Yesterday, Station Eleven) as Daniel, Jessica Hynes (Shaun of the Dead, Spaced) as Steph and Aya Cash (The Boys, You’re the Worst) as Anita, “the comedy series shines light on the secret chaos inside the world of superhero moviemaking, to ask the question — how exactly does the cinematic sausage get made? Because every f*ck-up has an origin story” via the press release. The Franchise will premiere on October 6, 2024.
Roller Jam is a six-episode competition series hosted by Jordin Sparks (Sparkle, Ride Along 2), where the best roller-skating teams in America will compete against each other for a prize of $150,000, per the press release. The teams will go head-to-head with dance routines and be judged by Terrell Ferguson (Roll Call, Cate) and Johnny Weir (Spinning Out, Zoolander 2). Roller Jam is set to premiere on October 10, 2024.
Have I Got News For You is a CNN original series that combines the spirits of Jeopardy with The Daily Show. With host Roy Wood Jr. (The Daily Show, Sullivan & Son), the show will have guests go through “comic games and panels” to quiz how much they know about current news events via the press release. Have I Got News For You will be released on October 10, 2024.
Somebody Somewhere will return with seven episodes for its season three-run. According to mxdwn, the comedy series “captures the struggles of protagonist 40-year-old Sam Miller, a Midwest woman facing the challenges of life while finding community among fellow small-town misfits.” The series welcomes back Bridget Everett (Little Evil, Inside Amy Schumer) as Sam Miller, Jeff Hiller (Nightcap, American Horror Story) as Joel and Tim Bagley (Will & Grace, Grace and Frankie) as Brad.
The Confidante is a four-part psychological thriller following the unraveling of the main character, Christelle “Chris” Blandian. The logline promises that “after witnessing the harrowing November 13, 2015 terrorist attacks, [Chris] quickly latches onto a community of survivors,” which become witness to Chris’ web of lies, per the press release. The Confidante will premiere on October 15, 2024.
I Am Not A Monster: The Lois Riess Murders is a two-part documentary series that retells a 2018 murder case. 56-year-old Lois Riess “attempts to explain her reprehensible actions which reveals a disturbing family history and an addiction to gambling” during her sit down with documentarians on why she murdered her husband David via the press release. I Am Not A Monster: The Lois Riess Murders will debut on October 17, 2024.
Louder: The Soundtrack of Change is a documentary series following the legacy of female musical icons who push for positive societal change in the past and present. Produced by Stacey Abrams (While Justice Sleeps, Never Tell) and Selena Gomez (Only Murders in the Building, Spring Breakers), Louder: The Soundtrack of Change will premiere on October 18, 2024.
Breath of Fire is a four-episode documentary series that follows the late self-proclaimed yoga guru Katie Griggs, who rose to fame by practicing Kundalini yoga on YouTube. The series promises to “illuminate the culture of modern spirituality revealing complicated themes of cultural appropriation and the dangers of self-proclaimed gurus” via the press release. Breath of Fire is set to premiere on October 25, 2024.
