According to Deadline, Max has set the season two premiere of Rap Sh!t for Thursday, August 10. The comedy series, created by Issa Rae (Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse, Barbie), will debut with two episodes and will have subsequent weekly episodes until the season finale on Thursday, September 21.
Rap Sh!t follows Shawna and Mia, two estranged high school friends from Miami who reunite to form a rap group. Shawna and Mia are forced to decide if they will conform to the demands of the music industry or stay true to themselves in their rise to fame.
The series stars Aida Osman (The Young Wife, Group Therapy) as Shawna, KaMillion (The Removed, Joyful Noise) as Mia, Jonica Booth (Bad Girls Club, Mrs. Davis) as Chastity, RJ Cyler (Power Rangers, The Harder They Fall) as Lamont, Daniel Augustin (Critical Thinking, The Turnaround) as Maurice, Devon Terrell (Totally Completely Fine, Cursed) as Cliff, Jaboukie Young-White (Fairfax, Strange World) as Francois Boom, Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut (Star Trek: Picard, Cruel Summer) as Fatima, Amandla Jahava (DMZ, Killer Whales) as Jill, and Brittney Jefferson (American Soul, Deadly Attraction).
Syreeta Singleton (Insecure, Central Park) serves as showrunner for Rap Sh!t and executive produces with Rae for Hoorae, Dave Becky (Rough Night, Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain), Jim Kleverweis (Groundhog Day, Silicon Valley), and Jonathan Berry (A Black Lady Sketch Show, Gray Matter). Yung Miami (You People, Bad Boys for Life) and JT (Bruised, Insecure) of City Girls also executive produce with Kevin “Coach K” Lee (Hottlanta, The Impact: Atlanta) and Pierre “P” Thomas (Hottlanta, Rap Sh!t) for Quality Control Films.
Music supervision for the series is handled by Jax Clark (Crazy Rich Asians, Ben is Back) and Sara Rastogi (The Martian, Exodus: Gods and Kings) for Hoorae Rae’s Audio Everywhere Company, Raedio.
Season one of Rap Sh!t premiered on Max on July 21, 2022.
