According to an official press release from Max, the streaming service has released the second teaser for its upcoming The Penguin series. Set in the universe of Matt Reeves’ (War For The Planet Of The Apes, Cloverfield) The Batman film, the series is expected to debut in September.
The press release reads, “Starring Colin Farrell (The Gentleman, The Lobster) as Oz Cobb (aka “The Penguin”), the eight-episode DC Studios limited series continues filmmaker Matt Reeves’ The Batman epic crime saga that began with Warner Bros. Pictures’ global blockbuster “The Batman.” Developed by showrunner Lauren LeFranc, the series centers on the character played by Farrell in the film.”
At the end of The Batman, the Riddler, played by Paul Dano (Dumb Money, There Will Be Blood), gathered a group of political militants to bomb Gotham and assassinate the city’s corrupt politicians. The teaser follows Cobb in the aftermath of the Riddler’s attack. As the city floods, Cobb uses the power vacuum in the Falcone family to attempt to take control of Gotham’s criminal underworld. The teaser calls the series “The next chapter” of The Batman world.
Along with Farrell, the series stars Cristin Milioti (Palm Springs, Made For Love), Michael Kelly (Chronicle, Dawn Of The Dead), Rhenzy Feliz (Encanto, The Tender Bar), Shohreh Aghdashloo (Damsel, The Expanse), Clancy Brown (Highlander, Starship Troopers), Deirdre O’Connell (Lez Bomb, The Boy Downstairs), James Madio (The Last Push, The Featherweight), Michael Zegen (The Stand-In, Brooklyn), Scott Cohen (The Tenth Kingdom, Love & Other Drugs), Theo Rossi (Dear Zoe, Lowriders) and Carmen Ejogo (Sparkle, The Purge: Anarchy).
The series is executive produced by Reeves, Farrell, Dylan Clark (The Batman, Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes), Craig Zobel (The Hunt, Compliance), Bill Carraro (American History X, The Golden Compass) and LeFranc. The Penguin is produced by Reeves’ 6th and Idaho Productions, Dylan Clark Productions and Warner Bros Television.
