According to a press release by Max, the upcoming TV series, When No One Sees Us, is set to release next month. The Max original series is created by Daniel Corpas (The Ministry of Time, Malaka) and written by several writers such as Arturo Ruiz (El destierro, Paseo) Luis Caballero (Under Suspision, Law and Order), José Antonio Valverde (High Seas, Génesis, en la mente del asesino), Germán Aparicio (A sangre y fuego) and Isabel Sánchez (The Clash Pad, Remotely Yours). The show is directed by Enrique Urbizu (Libertad, No Rest for the Wicked) and stars Maribel Verdú (Familia, Pet Shop Days) and Mariela Garriga (Mission: Impossible- The Final Reckoning, Golden Men).
According to the press release, the show debuted at the 2024 San Sebastián International Film Festival. The news outlet Variety commented the show was “pure cinema of the first order”. The show, spoken in Spanish, tells the story of crime happening in “deep Spain” according to the Max press release.
The official synopsis is as follows: “During Holy Week in 2024 in Morón de la Frontera, a village in Seville located next to the U.S. army base area, the American way of life coexists naturally with the traditions of the Andalusian countryside. Lucía Gutiérrez (Maribel Verdú) is a Civil Guard sergeant investigating the unusual suicide of a neighbor and strange events that occurred during the first Easter procession. Magaly Castillo (Mariela Garriga) is a U.S. Army special agent sent to the Morón de la Frontera base to find out the whereabouts of a missing American soldier who seems to be linked to the hidden business of Colonel Seamus Hoopen (Ben Temple), head of the base area. The lone military policeman, Sergeant Andrew Taylor (Austin Amelio), accompanies Magaly in her investigations and they soon discover that the two investigations are connected and the case is far more complex than they had assumed, involving both Morón residents and American military personnel from the nearby base.”
The series is based on Sergio Sarria’s (Terral) novel of the same name and is produced by Spain-based Zeta Studios for Warner Bros. The show also stars Austin Amelio (Hit Man, Fear The Walking Dead), Ben Temple (Upon Entry, Raqqa: Spy vs. Spy), and Dani Rovira (Spanish Affair, Superlopez).
The series will be available on Max Friday, March 7, 2025. View the full trailer below.
