Max has announced that there will be a price increase once again, Comicbook.com reports. The user will have three different plans to choose from: Max with Ads, Ad-Free and Ultimate Ad-Free. All three plans will have different benefits and pricing.
The new plans will be set in motion starting today, according to Comicbook.com. There will be monthly and yearly plans for subscribers. The monthly Ad-Free plan will be increased to $1 per month, and now it will be $16.99/month. The Ad-Free yearly plan will be increased to 20$ per year, so now it will be $169.99/year. The Ultimate Ad-Free monthly plan is increased to $1 per month, so now it’s $20.99/month. Finally, the Ultimate Ad-Free yearly plan is increased by $10/year, so now it’s $209.99/year. The Max with Ads plan will stay the same, $9.99/month or $99.99/year.
According to Comicbook.com, the price increases will be active immediately when a user begins a new subscription. Existing subscribers to the streaming platform will be alerted 30 days before the plan is renewed, so the price increases will begin with the next billing cycle after or on July 4. The yearly subscribers will not have the price increased on their subscription until their yearly renewal in 2025.
According to Comicbook.com, the news of Max increasing the prices of its subscriptions was first reported last month, as employee cuts were considered a possibility to help the company fix its costs and debt problems.
“The company is focused on the long-term growth of the business overall, including Max, which has been a priority across WBD to expand the original content offerings for our streaming audiences including news originals from CNN, March Madness and NBA Finals from sports, local language content from international, and a new distribution deal with A24,” via Comicbook.com.
Warner Bros. Discovery and Disney have collaborated on a combined streaming bundle for their subscribers, according to Comicbook.com. Both companies have shared their thoughts on the matter, as all three streaming services have ad-supported plans included in their premium ad-free plans, which currently have different price ranges.
