The world lost a brilliant talent and a kind soul over the weekend when Matthew Perry (17 again) passed away at the age of 54, and since then, an outpouring of tributes and condolences has been displayed on social media. Perry was best known for his role as Chandler Bing on the hit sitcom Friends, but he also had a successful career in film and television. In addition to his work in entertainment, Perry was also a passionate advocate for mental health awareness. He spoke openly about his own struggles, and he used his platform to help others who were struggling. Perry was born in Williamstown, Massachusetts, on August 19, 1969. He began his acting career at a young age, appearing in commercials and television shows. It was back in 1994 when Matthew began his role as Chandler. Besides being on Friends, Perry was also famous for his other roles in numerous TV shows and movies such as A Night in The Life of Jimmy Reardon, Don’t Look Up, The Whole Nine Yards, and many more. According to the shared statement by the Friends creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane, and executive producer Kevin Bright via Hollywood Reporter, “It still seems impossible. All we can say is that we feel blessed to have had him as part of our lives.
According to Deadline, Perry’s Friends co-stars issued a joint statement to People Magazine:
We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss. In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.

According to Deadline, Friend’s co star Maggie Wheeler shares her sadness by saying,”What a loss. The world will miss you Mathew Perry (sic). The joy you brought to so many in your too-short lifetime will live on. I feel so very blessed by every creative moment we shared.” Overall, even though Matthew Perry is gone, his legacy lives on through the friends and loved ones he made along his journey. He touched the lives of millions of people with his work and his advocacy and he will be deeply missed.
