According to Deadline, Matthew Modine (Oppenheimer) was asked by Millie Bobby Brown (Damsel) to officiate her wedding to Jake Bongiovi (Rockbottom). The pair starred in Stranger Things together, with Modine playing Brown’s onscreen “papa” to go along with her character of Eleven. Modine explained in detail why the decision was made.
Deadline claims that Modine said, “I have one of those licenses to get people married, and Millie thought it’d be great, and then Jake said it would be a great idea.”
He then continued discussing the vows, Deadline stated, saying that Brown and Bongiovi “loved what I wrote for them to join hands and to become husband and wife.”
Deadline also cited that this is not the first time that Modine has been asked to officiate a wedding, and that he believes it is “such a beautiful thing to be able to join two people in holy matrimony.”
The next season of Stranger Things, which is the fifth official season, will feature both Modine and Brown, said Deadline.
IMDB gave a synopsis for the series, saying that “When a young boy vanishes, a small town uncovers a mystery involving secret experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one strange little girl.”
The series, which IMDB says has been running since the year 2016, was created by Matt and Ross Duffer. It stars big actors such as Brown, Finn Wolfhard (It), Caleb McLaughlin (Shooting Stars), Gaten Matarazzo (Honor Society), Noah Schnapp (The Tutor), Joe Keery (Fargo), Charlie Heaton (Marrowbone), Winona Ryder (Beetlejuice), among other prominent names in the industry.
There has been no date set in stone for the wedding of Brown and Bongiovi, who is the son of Jon Bon Jovi. However, Deadline said that the couple has been together officially since 2021, and that the engagement was announced to the public in 2023.
