The third series in the Marvel Netflix collaboration, Luke Cage, has announced two new cast members.
Theo Rossi (Sons Of Anarchy) has been cast as a regular and will star opposite of Mike Colter and Alfre Woodward, according to Deadline. His character is described as menacing, relentless, manipulative, smooth, street smart, and controlling. Deadline speculates that this role is actually Shades aka Alvarez, a well-known criminal and enemy of Luke Cage.
Additionally, Rosario Dawson will reprise her Daredevil role as Claire Temple. Claire is a nurse who helps Matt Murdock aka Daredevil and is briefly a love interest for his character. In the comic books, Claire is a love interest for Luke Cage so she may be appearing on Luke Cage for that reason.
Luke Cage will follow the title character who has a dark past and developed super strength. Played by Mike Colter, Cage becomes a hero for hire in NYC. Cage will appear in the next Marvel Netflix series Jessica Jones before the Luke Cage series premieres. Alfre Woodward is reportedly playing a villain in the Luke Cage series as we reported on here.
Jessica Jones is set to premiere later this fall on Netflix. We reported on the details of the series here. The second season of Daredevil along with Luke Cage are expected to arrive on Netflix in 2016.
