The cast for Marvel Studios’ Ironheart continues to grow with the addition of actress Regan Aliyah, Comicbook reports. The actress is known for appearing in Club Mickey Mouse and the short series, BF for Hire.
Ironheart, based on the comic created by Brian Michael Bendis (Spider-Men, Powers) and later rebooted by Eve Ewing (Ironheart: Meant to Fly, Electric Arches), follows Chicago teenager and tech genius, RiRi Williams. Williams is a science prodigy who develops her own prototype of the late Tony Stark’s Iron Man suit. After tragedy strikes her family, she seeks to become a special kind of hero for her community. The TV series adaptation will star Dominique Thorne (Judas and the Black Messiah, If Beale Street Could Talk) in the role of Williams.
Thorne leads a cast that includes Anthony Ramos (In Treatment, Hamilton) who is reportedly portraying Marvel villain Park Robbins aka The Hood. Other cast members are Manny Montana (Good Girls, Graceland), Shea Couleé (Dragging the Classics: The Brady Bunch, Nubia Amplified), Zoe Terakes (Ellie and Abbie, Call History), Lyric Ross (This Is Us, Wendell & Wild), and Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story, Beautiful Creatures). None of their roles have been revealed as of yet.
Marvel Studios originally announced the series in December of 2020 along with Don Cheadle’s Armor Wars and Samuel L. Jackson’s Secret Invasion. Filming for the series began in April and seems to be on track for a 2023 release. While fans may catch a glimpse of the series during next week’s D23 Expo, Thorne will debut as Williams in November’s release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
According to Comicbook, the series is created by poet Chinaka Hodge (Dated Emcees, For Girls With Hips: Collected Poems and Writings) with Sam Bailey (You’re So Talented, Brown Girls) and Angela Barnes (Loot, Blindspotting) attached to direct. The six-episode series will stream exclusively on Disney+.
