An upcoming Marvel series at Disney+ has added another cast member to its ranks. Deadline reports Josh Segarra (Arrow, AJ and the Queen) has joined She-Hulk which stars Orphan Black’s Tatiana Maslany. Segarra’s role has not been revealed as the series is set to premiere sometime next year.
According to Deadline, She-Hulk is a legal comedy centering Maslany’s Jennifer Walters, an attorney who becomes endowed with powers similar to her Avenger cousin, Bruce Banner aka the Hulk. The series will see Mark Ruffalo (I Know This Much is True, Spotlight) reprise his role as the docile green giant.
In addition to Ruffalo, the series will also star Tim Roth (The Incredible Hulk, Lie to Me) returning as Hulk nemesis, Abomination, and Ginger Gonzaga (Mixology, I’m Dying Up Here) and Renée Elise Goldsberry (Girls5eva, Evil), via Deadline. HBO Max’s Legendary judge, Jameela Jamil (The Good Place), has also been cast as Titania, an alleged foe for Walters pulled straight from the comics.
Segarra is no stranger to the comic TV adaptation. He starred as Simon Morrison aka Prometheus, a lethal foe to Oliver Queen, on the CW’s Arrow. Segarra’s next role will be in the HBO Max comedy, The Other Two, which has its second season drop on August 26, via Deadline.
She-Hulk will be the sixth series from Marvel Studios’ televised canon. Disney+ recently wrapped the first season of its latest hit, Loki, which followed star Tom Hiddleston (Thor, The Avengers) fighting fate through a splintered timeline. The previous series – all one-and-done entries – were the Emmy-nominated WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Before the year’s end, fans will have received Jeremy Renner (The Bourne Legacy, The Hurt Locker) in Hawkeye, and the official live-action debut of Ms. Marvel with newcomer, Iman Vellani.
According to Deadline, the She-Hulk is being helmed by Kat Coiro (Life Happens, Marry Me) and Anu Valia (Brooklyn Love Stories, Chained for Life). Rick and Morty’s Jessica Gao is attached as head writer.
