Weeks after the conclusion of Disney+’s latest Marvel series Loki, Marvel has unveiled the release date of the newest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Multiverse?) franchise, Hawkeye, according to Entertainment Weekly. The upcoming series will premiere on Disney+ on November 24.
One of the founding Avengers, Clint Barton, played by Jeremy Renner (The Bourne Legacy), will foster a new friendship with a younger female archer, Kate Bishop, played by Hailee Steinfeld (Pitch Perfect), in Hawkeye. Bishop initially appeared in the 2000s Young Avengers comics, finally fighting alongside Barton in the Hawkeye solo comic which ran from 2012-2015. Fans will see Barton in action once again in his all-too-familiar mentor role with Bishop.
“[Kate is] a 22-year-old kid and she’s a big Hawkeye fan,” Renner said. “She has a wonderfully annoying and equally charming manner about her, because she’s such a fangirl of Hawkeye. The relationship grows from that, but the biggest problem for Clint is Kate Bishop and the onslaught of problems that she brings into his life,” via Entertainment Weekly.
In her MCU debut, Steinfeld reportedly followed Renner’s lead as a long-time MCU actor. “That was always my role. Outside of acting in the thing, I was protecting her and giving her the CLiffsNotes on how it goes with this kind of filmmaking: Green screen, superhero life, all that stuff.” Renner stated. “I just wanted to protect her, because there’s a lot of physical stuff. She’s a wonderful actress, a wonderful human, and I can’t wait to see all the cool stuff that she’s able to do,” via Entertainment Weekly.
Hawkeye will mark Marvel’s fifth series, alongside WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki. The franchise’s first animated series, What If…? is set for a mid-August release. Thus far, only Loki has received an official second season. Hawkeye will premiere on Disney+ on November 24, with new episodes being released every Wednesday.
