In its second year at the Primetime Emmy Awards, The Marvel Cinematic Universe has received 19 nominations, according to Deadline. This was revealed on Monday as all of the nominations for the 74th Primetime Emmys were announced.
Leading all of Marvel’s television shows in nominations was Moon Knight, which came away with eight of the 19 nominations. Coming right behind Moon Knight was Loki with six nominations, followed by What If…? with three and Hawkeye with two.
Moon Knight‘s eight nominations include an Outstanding Character Voice Over Performance nomination for F. Murray Abraham (Scarface), Cinematography for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, Fantasy Sci/Fi Costumes, Music Composition for a Limited/Anthology Series/Movie/Special, Sound Editing for a Limited/Anthology Series/Movie/Special, Sound Mixing for a Limited/Anthology Series/Movie/Special, Stunt Performance, and Stunt Coordination for a Drama Series, Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
Loki’s six nominations include Production Design for a Narrative Period or Fantasy Program (hour or more), Cinematography for a Single Camera Series (hour or more), Fantasy Sci/Fi Costumes, Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score), Original Main Title Theme Music, and Sound Editing for a Comedy/Drama Series.
What If…?’s three nominations include a posthumous Outstanding Character Voice Over Performance nomination for the late Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), who died at age 43 in 2020. This is Boseman’s second posthumous award nomination after being nominated for Best Actor for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom at the 2021 Academy Awards. The show also received another Outstanding Character Voice Over Performance nomination for Jeffery Wright (The Batman) as well as a nomination for Outstanding Animated Program.
Hawkeye’s two nominations include Stunt Coordination for a Comedy Series or Variety Program and Stunt Performance.
These nominations come after Marvel received 28 total nominations at last year’s Emmys, which included 23 for WandaVision and five for The Falcon And The Winter Soldier. WandaVision’s 23 nominations were the second-highest of any show and won three for Original Music & Lyrics, Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes, and Production Design for a Narrative Program (half hour). The Falcon And The Winter Soldier did not end up winning any of their five nominations.
The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards will take place on September 12th at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT.
