A week after the premiere of Marvel’s Ironheart, Disney+ revealed the first look at the highly anticipated animated series, Eyes of Wakanda. From executive producer Ryan Coogler (Black Panther, Creed), the four-episode series is set to premiere August 27. View the new teaser below.
First announced in December 2023, Eyes of Wakanda takes viewers on a journey into the country’s past, chronicling how the nation was shaped before T’Challa served as king and the hero, Black Panther.
While the teaser is only 30 seconds long, it boasts a distinct animation style, separate from previous titles such as X-Men ’97 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. This was first revealed at last year’s D23 event, where Harris and Coogler teased the audience with what they could expect from the televised program.

The official logline reads: “In this globe-trotting adventure, the heroes must carry out dangerous missions to retrieve vibranium artifacts from the enemies of Wakanda. They are the Hatut Zeraze, and this is their story.”
The extensive voice cast includes Cress Williams (Black Lightning, Prison Break), Winnie Harlow (The Perfect Find, Alone at Night), Lynn Whitfield (Greenleaf, The Chi), Anika Noni Rose (Power, Dreamgirls), Patricia Belcher (Matlock, Flatliners), Larry Herron (NCIS, Cold Case), Jona Xiao (The Flash, Raya and the Last Dragon), Gary Anthony Williams (Invincible, Night Court), Steve Toussaint (House of the Dragon, Tales of the Kenzera: Zau) and more.
“This is a story about Wakandan history,” said Head of Marvel Television Brad Winderbaum (Ant-Man, Thor: Ragnarok) in a previous Comicbook article. “It’s produced by Ryan Coogler and directed by Todd Harris, who is one of our longtime storyboard artists whom I first met when he designed the Hulk vs. Thor fight in Ragnarok.”
“It’s both about the history of Wakanda, but also expands into the greater MCU at different time periods. If you’re a fan of the movies, I think this show is going to be a real treat,” Winderbaum said via Comicbook.
Eyes of Wakanda will be the fourth televised project of the year, following the live-action Daredevil: Born Again and Ironheart, and the animated Spider-Man series. Marvel Zombies, another animated project, is set to arrive this fall. The Disney-owned property closes the year with the anticipated Wonder Man starring Yahya Abdul Mateen II (Watchmen, Candyman)
