This week, Marvel has made several announcements revealing new cast members joining the WandaVision spinoff Agatha: Coven of Chaos. According to Deadline, Ali Ahn (Billions, Raising Dion) and Maria Dizzia (The Good Nurse, The First Lady) have been added to the show’s cast.
The other announcements via Deadline, say that Joe Locke, the star of the new Netflix show Heartstopper, has also joined the cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation, The White Lotus) has been the last one to join the series.
As for the roles the new cast members have in the show, it is still mostly unknown. Marvel did let fans know that Locke will be playing the male lead opposite Kathryn Hahn (Transparent, Bad Moms) who is reprising her role as Agatha. According to Deadline, there are rumors that the character played by Locke is being described as a gay teen with a dark sense of humor.
It is rumored, via Deadline, that Plaza will be playing a villainous role in the show. As for Ahn and Dizzia, details are being kept under wraps so, it is still unknown if they will be part of the coven or against it.
The other cast member announced was Emma Caulfield (Supergirl, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) that will be reprising her role as Dottie who appeared in WandaVision. As to where she belongs in the overall arc of the story it is still unknown.
Fans first met Agatha in Marvel’s WandaVision where she played the couple’s nosy neighbor. Agatha is later revealed to be a witch from Salem who was manipulating Wanda so that she could have access to her powers. Agatha became a fan favorite character with her “Agatha All Along” number that revealed how she had been manipulating Wanda from the start and how she was involved with all the big events from the show.
WandaVision head writer Jac Schaeffer (Black Widow, The Hustle) is among the crew working behind the scenes of this new Marvel project.
Agatha: Coven of Chaos doesn’t have a premiere date yet, but it is rumored that it will come out in the winter of 2023.
