Sherlock Holmes actor Martin Freeman is set to co-star in a new limited series, Deadline has learned.
Freeman will co-star alongside Billy Bob Thornton in the FX limited series Fargo, executive produced by Joel and Ethan Coel. The series will consist of ten episodes based off of the 1996 film by the producers. The series will feature an all-new true crime story with a new case and new characters.
Freeman will play Lester Nygard, a small town insurance salesman henpecked by his wife, whose life is changed when a stranger, Lorne Malvo (Thornton), comes to town.
Noah Hawley wrote the script, and Adam Bernstein is set to direct the opening hour. In addition to the Coens, FX Productions, MGM Television, Hawley, Warren Littlefield and Geyer Kosinski are executive producing.
