David Faustino, also known as Bud Bundy from Fox’s iconic 90s sitcom, Married With Children, has revealed that a televised reunion of the show is currently in the works.
On Monday, Faustino told E! News’s Marc Malkin, “Sony has it. They’re excited about it. They’re working out some legal issues that we hope they work out.”
The wildly successful Married With Children was Fox’s first primetime television show, and ran for a decade from 1987 to 1997. The show starred Ed O’Neill and Katey Segal as Al and Peggy Bundy, the heads of a dysfunctional suburban family including their misguided children, played by Faustino and Christina Applegate.
The show’s eleven-season run is evidence enough of its insane popularity – to date, it is the longest running sitcom in Fox history. Its rabid fan following evidently helped convince most of the original actors to star in its reunion.
“The whole cast, including Christina, is down to do little bits in it,” said Faustino. “The idea would be a pilot for a spinoff. That’s all I can say right now. It involves me and few other people.” (E! News)
Details of when the Married With Children reunion will happen are still unclear. In true Bundy fashion, things aren’t exactly perfectly organized yet – however, if all goes smoothly regarding legalities, the original actors are confirmedly on board, so a production date shouldn’t be too far off.
