The network has green lit a spinoff series to follow the couples featured on the the highly-rated program, The Hollywood Reporter explains.
Married at First Sight: The First Year has been given an eight-episode order from the A&E network-owned network. The spinoff will highlight two couples, Jason Carrion and Cortney Hendrix, and Doug Hehner and Jamie Otis, as they continue their married lives.
The spinoff will follow the newlyweds as they pass their six-month mark, which was previously charted in a two-hour special earlier this month.
“Married at First Sight has truly captured viewers’ attention by bringing viewers in on our subjects’ authentic quest for true love,” said Gena McCarthy, senior vp programming and development. “It was a natural fit to follow-up with the two married couples post experiment. Viewers will now see them as they embark on one of the most challenging times in married couples’ lives – the first year.”
