Marianne Jean-Baptiste Cast In Third Season Of Amazon’s ‘Jack Ryan’

Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Homecoming, Without a Trace) is set to join the third season of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, according to Deadline. The Amazon Prime series stars John Krasinski (The Office, A Quiet Place) in the titular role created by famed author Tom Clancy (The Hunt for Red October, Rainbow Six).

According to Deadline, Jean-Baptiste will be Elizabeth Wright, the Chief of Station in the espionage drama show. Her previous TV credits include CBS’ missing person drama Without A Trace and a TV adaptation of Training Day. She also starred alongside Julia Roberts (The Pelican Brief, Stepmom) and Stephan James (#FreeRayshawn, 21 Bridges) in Amazon’s first season of Homecoming. In film, Jean-Baptiste was the lead in the 2019 indie horror In Fabric. She will appear in the upcoming 2020 dark holiday comedy Fatman with Mel Gibson (Lethal Weapon, Hacksaw Ridge).

For decades, Clancy’s novels have been the basis for films, TV shows, and video games. The character of Jack Ryan has been portrayed by various actors including Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, and Chris Pine. The film adaptations include 1992’s Patriot Games, 1994’s Clear and Present Danger, and 2002’s The Sum of All Fears. A 2021 film starring Michael B. Jordan (Creed 2, Just Mercy) will center on a character within the Jack Ryan universe. Two successful video game franchises are also based on Clancy’s stories. They include Ubisoft’s stealth third-person shooter Splinter Cell, and the multiplayer tactical shooter Rainbow Six.  

Jack Ryan is produced by Amazon Studios, Paramount Television Studios, and Skydance Television, via Deadline. Along with Krasinski and Clancy, executive producers include Andrew Form (The Purge: Election Year, Ouija: Origin of Evil), Allyson Seeger (2012, The To-Do List), Vaun Wilmott (Star Trek: Discovery, Dominion), Brad Fuller (The Purge, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) and Michael Bay (Transformers, Bad Boys). Skydance Television adds David Ellison (Flyboys, Top Gun: Maverick), Dana Goldberg (The Old Gaurd, Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation), Marcy Ross (Grace and Frankie, Altered Carbon) and Mace Neufeld (Patriot Games, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit).
