Maria Bamford will star and also be executive producer for a new Netflix project.
Mitch Hurwitz is teaming up with Netflix to stream a new comedy series.
The comedy is titled Lady Dynamite. It is a single-camera, half hour show based on Bamford’s “life.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, the episodes, inspired by multiple periods across the span of her life, will tell the story of a woman who loses — and then finds — her shit.
Hurwitz and Pam Brady (South Park) co-wrote the pilot and will also both be executive producers alongside Bamford. Brady is also going to serve as the comedy’s showrunner.
Some of Netflix’s original comedies include, Orange Is the New Black, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Grace and Frankie and the animated comedy BoJack Horseman. Lady Dynamite will join this family of original comedies on this streaming service.
Some of Bamford’s credits include Arrested Development and Benched. She is represented by Omnipop Talent Group and Ginsburg Daniels.
