Marvel just announced the addition of two new actresses to the cast of the upcoming revival series Daredevil: Born Again. Margarita Levieva (The Deuce, In from the Cold) and Sandrine Holt (American Gigolo, The Expanse) will have major roles opposite lead actors Charlie Cox (Stardust, Kin) and Vincent D’Onofrio (Ratched, The Unforgivable), according to Deadline. Levieva and Holt join previously announced Michael Gandolfini (The Deuce, The Independent) as part of the cast of the new Daredevil show.
The show will be written and executive produced by Matt Corman (The Enemy Within, The Brave) and Chris Ord (Containment, Covert Affairs), with Cox reprising his role as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil, and D’Onofrio reprising his role as Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin.
It is still unknown who Levieva and Holt will be playing on the show since details of the characters are being kept secret by Marvel. Rumors via Deadline, say that the actresses might be playing love interests for Daredevil and Kingpin.
In the previous installment of Daredevil on Netflix, the love interests of Daredevil included Elektra Natchios played by Elodie Yung (The Cleaning Lady, Gods of Egypt), Karen Page played by Deborah Ann Woll (Children of Éarte, Deborah), Nurse Claire Temple played by Rosario Dawson (Dopesick, The Book of Boba Fett) and more recently Jen Walters aka She-Hulk played by Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black, Pink Wall) in the new Disney+ show She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. In the Netflix series, Kingpin maintains a relationship with art connoisseur Vanessa Marianna played by Ayelet Zurer (Man of Steel, Angels & Demons).
The show’s first season is set to have eighteen episodes and is slated to premiere in 2024, just four years after the original Daredevil series ended its run on Netflix after the announcement of the new Disney streaming platform, now known as Disney+.
Daredevil follows Matt Murdock, a lawyer by day and vigilante by night. With the help of his friends Karen and Foggy, played by Elden Henson (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Jobs), Daredevil defends Hell’s Kitchen both in the courts and in the streets. During his time as a vigilante, Matt has attempted to take down an organized crime web that has the citizens of Hell’s Kitchen fearing for their lives. It is in his attempt to take down this web that he discovers the man running it and his biggest enemy, Kingpin.
The new show Daredevil: Born Again is set to premiere sometime in 2024. The original Daredevil series is available to stream on Disney+.
