“The story of King Midas and his golden touch is well known and well-loved,” said Johnston, via Deadline. “This is a retelling of a completely transformed tale, one that dives deep beneath the myth and produces a heartbreaking, and inspirational saga. The world the author has created has captured the imaginations of millions of people and we are excited to be adapting the rich and fantastical world that Raven Kennedy has so vividly created.”
The Plated Prisoner series follows twenty-five year old Auden, who has been turned gold by King Midas’ touch. The only part of her body that remains un-plated are her teeth and the whites of her eyes. In exchange for saving her, Auden has given Midas her heart. Auden is kept safe in a gold-plated cage at the top of a castle, until someone she trusts betrays her. She begins to wonder if King Midas is really the person she thinks.
