As everyone gears up for the fall premiere of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, Netflix’s marketing team is aiming to get you into a real-life Luke’s Diner.
Luke’s Diner, of course, is appropriated to none other but the gruff and lovable character of Luke Danes (played by Scott Patterson). Formerly William’s Hardware, Luke’s Diner is the hot spot for the fictional town of Stars Hollow, and the main reason the Gilmore girls are fed on a regular basis. The diner served as a main set for the series, bringing in all the quirky characters to gossip and enjoy the main watering hole (Luke’s cynicism aside).
According to Variety, you too can now experience the legendary coffee at a Luke’s Diner. On October 5th, over two hundred businesses have agreed to adapt the Stars Hollow style in honor of the show’s sixteenth anniversary. These new Luke’s will hand out free coffee from 7am to noon, as well as sell Gilmore-themed shirts and aprons.
A list of all participating “diners” can be found here, and make those plans quick! According to the press release, there will also be a “fun surprise under their Gilmore Girls coffee sleeve” that may point towards more prizes during the course of these pop-up events. What could it be? A secret note? A slip of paper with the final four words (highly unlikely, but a girl can dream)?
Nevertheless, these pop-up diners are a brilliant way to keep the revival pertinent in the public’s minds. News of the Gilmore Girls Netflix show have been on fire since earlier this year, but the time is dwindling down till its premiere. A warm cup of Luke’s coffee is a perfect way to keep us going until November.
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life premieres on Friday, November 25 on Netflix.
