Luciane Buchanan To Return For Final Season Of ‘The Night Agent’

Fans of The Night Agent may finally get the reunion they have been hoping for. According to Deadline, Luciane Buchanan (The New Legends of Monkey, Filthy Rich) is set to reprise her role as Rose Larkin in the fourth and final season of Netflix’s action thriller.

Buchanan played Rose, the tech entrepreneur who became Peter Sutherland’s closest ally and eventual love interest during the first two seasons of the series. While details about her return remain under wraps, Deadline reports that her comeback answers one of the biggest questions raised following the announcement that season four would be the show’s final chapter.

mxdwn previously covered Netflix’s decision to end The Night Agent with its fourth season. That report focused on the streamer bringing the series to a planned conclusion rather than allowing the story to continue indefinitely.

It also highlighted how the creative team would have the opportunity to craft a definitive ending for Peter Sutherland’s journey. Buchanan’s return now suggests that the series may also revisit one of its most popular relationships before the final episode airs.

Rose was notably absent from season three after showrunner Shawn Ryan (The Shield, S.W.A.T.) chose not to bring the character back. However, Ryan told Deadline earlier this year, “I love Luciane, and I’d love to see Rose on the show again at some point,” leaving the door open for a future appearance.

Ryan also recalled telling Buchanan that her departure did not necessarily mean the end of her time on the series. “This doesn’t necessarily mean the end of you on the show,” he said, adding that there could come a time when he would “call and beg you to come back.”

Created by Ryan and based on the novel by Matthew Quirk (Hour of the Assassin, Red Warning), The Night Agent centers on FBI agent Peter Sutherland, played by Gabriel Basso (The Big C, Hillbilly Elegy). Peter and Rose’s relationship became one of the show’s most popular elements and helped propel the first season onto Netflix’s list of most-watched English-language series.

With filming underway on the fourth and final season, Buchanan’s return could provide the emotional payoff many viewers have been waiting to see.
