Lorraine Toussaint Joins Season 2 of ‘Orange Is The New Black’

Lorraine Toussaint is joining the Netflix series Orange Is The New Black for its second season.

The series, which debuted as a Netflix original series on July 11, has been renewed for a second season, scheduled for a 2014 release. The show follows Brooklynite Piper Chapman as she is sentenced to fifteen months in prison for carrying drug money ten years prior. When engaged Piper enters prison, she is faced with a number of challenges, including learning to live in the prison alongside her drug-importing ex-lesbian lover.

Toussaint has signed onto the prison drama and will play character Vee, described as a street-tough inmate who used to run a drug business, using children as the runners.

In addition to Toussaint, Danielle Brooks, who plays the reoccurring role of character Tastee in season one, has been promoted to a series regular for the second season. Taryn Manning was also recently added as a second two regular.

Weeds alum Jenji Kohan created the dramedy. Taylor Schilling stars along with Laura Prepon, Jason Biggs, Samira Wiley, Vicky Jeudy, Lolita Foster, Michelle Hurst, Uzo Aduba, Adrienne Moore, Laverne Cox and Dascha Polanco.
