The Grammy Awards hit a record for the longest Grammys in 22 years.
According to Deadline, this year’s Grammy Awards lasted 3 hours and 45 minutes, 15 minutes longer than last year’s Grammys. Trent Reznor, Queens of the Stone Age, Dave Grohl and Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham performed to close out the night but Grammy producers cut the performance short. This did not sit well with Reznor who took to twitter to tell off the Grammy organizers.
Although the show ran into the early morning hours, rating were still good. Last night’s Grammys attracted 28.51 million viewers, up slightly from last year’s 28.37 million viewers. This awards show was the second-biggest audience since 1993, after the 2012 Grammys that aired after Whitney Houston’s death. The awards show fell 2% in adults 18-49 (9.9) from last year’s 10.1 rating. However, CBS came out on top with total viewers and adults 18-49 last night.
Fox’s rating fell sharply with The Simpsons (1.7) down 23%, Bob’s Burgers (1.5) down 25%, Family Guy (2.0) down 26%, and American Dad (1.5) down 35%. The NBC Pro Bowl received a 6.7 rating but was down 13% from last year when it did not go against the Grammys. The Bachelor: Sean and Catherine’s Wedding special from ABC received a 1.6 a significant difference from the last Bachelor marriage ceremony of Ashley and JP’s Wedding special.
