The jokester becomes the pranked in the new trailer for the Disney+ original series Loki. Tom Hiddleston (The Night Manager) makes his return as the God of mischief, but this time he’s not the one in control, via Entertainment Weekly.
Loki was last seen in Avengers: Endgame stealing the Space Stone as the Avengers traveled back in time. The new trailer reveals that when Loki escaped with it, he caused a change in the time and space continuum. Now, he’s been arrested and held prisoner by the Time-Keepers, also called the Time Variant Authority. They enlist Loki to help them restore order to time after he escaped, forcing him to confront his mistakes.
The ringleader of the Time-Keepers is portrayed by Owen Wilson (Bliss). In the trailer, he gives Loki the lowdown, stating: “We protect the proper flow of time. You picked up the tesseract, breaking reality. I want you to help us fix it.” From there, Loki goes down the rabbit hole of time, accompanying the Time-Keepers as they attempt to maintain order within reality.
But it’s not so simple, as it’s unclear who Loki can and cannot trust. Though he is a master of trickery, he may be the one getting played. Loki tells Wilson’s TVA Agent, “You can trust me,” to which Wilson responds, “Loki I’ve studied almost every moment of your entire life. You’ve literally like stabbed people in the back like fifty times.”
Alongside Hiddleston and Wilson, the series co-stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw (The Morning Show), Sophia Di Martino (Silent Witness), Wunmi Mosaku (Lovecraft Country) and Richard E. Grant (Can You Ever Forgive Me?).
The series debuts on Disney+ June 11. Watch the trailer below:
