HBO is currently in the process of developing a limited series surrounding Elon Musk’s SpaceX, according to The Hollywood Reporter. SpaceX is slated to be executive produced by Channing Tatum (Magic Mike, 21 Jump Street) and Len Amato (Deliver Us From Eva).
The upcoming HBO series will be based on the book by Ashlee Vance, Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future. Space X is set to follow Musk while chasing his dreams of making it to Mars. Musk handpicks a group of engineers to work on the project on a remote island where they will build, and later launch, the first SpaceX rocket into orbit. SpaceX’s initial mission, entitled, the Falcon 9, launched on May 30 and is currently docked at the International Space Station. While the six-episode series is based on his endeavors, Musk will not be involved in the project.
SpaceX follows several limited series that are currently in the developmental stages at HBO, including an adaptation of Ingmar Bergman’s (The Seventh Seal) Scenes From a Marriage, and an adaptation of the notable Parasite, among others.
