The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, a popular series of graphic novels by Alan Moore and Kevin O’Neill, has been given a put pilot order at Fox.
The series tells the story of a group of miscellaneous Victorian literary characters (Captain Nemo, Mina Harker, the Invisible Man and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, among others) who team up against a common enemy.
League, like many of Moore’s graphic novels (Watchmen, V for Vendetta), was adapted into a motion picture starring Sean Connery in 2003.
The Hollywood Reporter has noted that the potential Fox series sounds similar in concept to Showtime’s upcoming Penny Dreadful. The Showtime series follows the interactions of literary characters like Dr. Frankenstein, Van Helsing and Dorian Gray in Victorian London.
Michael Green (Kings, Heroes) will serve as show-runner, executive producer and writer on League. Erwin Stoff (Kings) will also executive produce.
