

According to Deadline, award-winning actor Layton Williams (Bad Education, Everybody’s talking about Jamie) will be joining the cast of Netflix’s Geek Girl for season two. Existing cast members, Em Carey (Wonder Women, House of the Dragon), Emmanuel Imani (Criminal, Hold The Dark), Liam Woodrum (The Grue Rule Show, Back Home), Rochelle Harrington (Geek Girl), and Zac Looker (A Kind Of Spark, Elle) with Sarah Parish (The Wedding Date, The holiday), Tim Downie (Toast of London, Good Omens), Jemima Rooper (Lost in Austen, The Black Dahlia) and Hebe Beardshall (Party Animal, Paranormal Investigators) will all be returning for season two.
Williams is best known for his stage performance of Celine Dian, musical, Titanique, in which he won the Olivier Award for best supporting actor according to Deadline. His stage performances also include Everybody’s talking about Jamie. Williams will be starring in Chris Cottam’s(Waiting Room, The Problem With People) up coming film, The Light Fantastic, is about a gay firefighter who would rather be a ballroom dancer.
Deadline stated Netflix took awhile to give the greenlight for season two of Geek Girl due to financial troubles of the former Producer, Corus. The production switched to a new Canadian company, Boat Rocker, with co-producer RubyRock Pictures. Geek Girl made a strong case for renewal, spending four weeks on the Netflix top Global top ten list for English language series, with over 28.1 million views in 89 countries. The ratings were coupled with solid reviews as well. a
According to Deadline continues, Geek Girl is based on a best selling novel by Holly Smale (Sky News Breakfast). The show follows a socially awkward teenager Harriet Manners, played by Carey. She is unexpectedly thrown into the world of fashion. Manners finds herself in life lessons of mean girls, runway chaos and her own personal growth.
Along with the creator, Smale the other filmakers on the series include, Jessica Rusto as co-creator. Declan O’dwyer, the director and the executive producers include, Zoe Rocha also serives as the series showrunner. Robbi Von Werz, Ivan Schneeberg, David Fortier, Jeff Norton, jon Rutherford and Nick Nantell.
