Two-time Emmy nominee Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under) will join the second season of SHOWTIME’s buzzy series, Yellowjackets, as the adult version of Vanessa ‘Van’ Palmer. Ambrose’s will recur as Adult Van, per Deadline.
Nonbinary actor Liv Hewson played teenage Van in the show’s debut season. Their previous credits include Top of the Lake, Inhumans, Santa Clarita Diet, and Dramaworld. Hewson also starred in Under My Skin from David O’Donnell, a project which scored them a nomination for Best Performance at London’s Raindance Film Festival. Creative forces behind the series have also promoted Hewson to series regular for Yellowjackets’s second season.
Yellowjackets is currently in contention for seven Emmy Awards in craft categories such as writing, directing, and casting. The series also received performance nominations, including Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for Christina Ricci (The Lizzie Borden Chronicles) and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Melanie Lynskey (Mrs. America). The show also received a nomination for Outstanding Drama Series. The 74th Emmy Awards will air on September 12th on NBC, and Emmy Award winner Kenan Thompson (Saturday Night Live) will host the ceremony.
Ambrose’s recent credits include the Emmy Award-nominated series Servant on Apple TV+ and the 2018 Broadway revival of My Fair Lady, where she earned a Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical. Ambrose is also set to star in upcoming films Tonight at Noon by director Michael Almereyda (Marjorie Prime) and The Vanishings at Caddo Lake by Logan George (Modern Love) and Celine Held (Topside).
Yellowjackets is created by Ashley Lyle (Dispatches from Elsewhere) and Bart Nickerson (The Originals). SHOWTIME has yet to confirm a second season release date for the series.
