The Nevers star Laura Donelly will join the upcoming Marvel-Disney+ Halloween Special, according to Deadline. Donelly will co-star alongside Gael Garcia Bernal (Coco).
Not much is known about the special, but its believed that it will be based on the Werewolf By Night character, a human who can turn into a werewolf while retaining human intellect. Plot details are being kept under wraps, according to Deadline.
There is no official word on who Donelly could be playing, but Deadline speculates that she could be playing Nina Price, aka Vampire By Night. In the comics, Nina Price is the niece of Jack Russell, one of two iterations of the Werewolf By Night character. Nina carried the Lycan gene which was changed further after being bit by a vampire.
It is also important to note that scoopers have speculated that Marvel Studios is developing a horror corner of the MCU with characters such as Blade (to be played by Mahershala Ali), Werewolf By Night, and Moon Knight (Oscar Isaac) to be included.
Production on the Halloween special is expected to be in the next couple months. Disney+ has many projects in the works for 2022, including She-Hulk, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.
Donelly is best known for her lead role as Amalia True in the HBO series, The Nevers. She has also appeared in Outlander, Britania, and The Fall among other credits.
