Larry David Grabs And Assaults Elmo on ‘Today Show’

Curb Your Enthusiasm star Larry David had a bit of an altercation with a certain muppet. According to Deadline, while Sesame Street star Elmo (Sesame Street) was on the Today Show being interviewed, David came up to him and threw his hand on Elmo’s face and shook him vigorously, quite like the infamous wrestling move ‘The Iron Claw’. Although everyone’s favorite fuzzy red monster was quite frazzled and upset by these actions, Elmo accepted David’s apology later on in the show.

Elmo was on the air with his father to talk about mental health and well-being. This came after a rush of online comments bounced back to Elmo after he asked Twitter, “Elmo is just checking in! How is everybody doing?” to which many people replied with some insight as to how they are doing mentally at their stages of life. Let’s just say, he got quite the boatload of how people maybe aren’t doing so well.

In response to this, he posted on social media how important it is to talk to someone if you aren’t feeling great. He also was invited onto the Today Show to talk about this internet phenomenon. While he was chatting, and had his father right there with him, David came up to him and seemingly grabbed his face in an ‘iron claw’ fighting move. To which Elmo exclaimed “Mister Larry Elmo likes you before!” and stared into the camera with some muppet-type rage. He also then exclaimed, “How about we sit down and talk about how you feel.”

After this, Today Show hosts Hoda Kotb, Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin came to Elmo’s defense. When they were interviewing David about his upcoming season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, they began by insisting that he apologize to Elmo. After apologizing, David and Elmo made amends when the Sesame Street resident accepted his apology. Watch the moment from the Today Show below!
