Longtime Power adversary Rashad Tate will continue to play a big role in the series universe. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Larenz Tate (Love Jones) will return to Power Book II: Ghost as a series regular in season two, which will premiere on November 21.
Tate previously appeared as Rashad Tate — a New York City Councilman who lost his bid at the governor’s office — in the final two seasons of Power as Ghost’s (Omari Hardwick) main antagonist. He appeared in two episodes of Book II season one.
In season two, Tate will not feel sorry for himself after losing the election. His older brother Kamaal (Lahmard J. Tate) will push Rashad to stop his power hunger and using his influence to make things happen, via The Hollywood Reporter. Unsatisfied with just a taste of power, Rashad will have to decide what he is willing to sacrifice to get what he wants.
Power Book II season two will follow Ghost’s son, Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey, Jr.), as he faces hard decisions about how to protect what’s left of his family. Not able to do so alone, he turns to those with power and influence: Davis MacLean (Method Man), his new partner Cooper Saxe (Shane Johnson), and Rashad Tate.
Power Book II is one of four additional spin-offs set for the Power universe. Book III: Raising Kanan is airing its first season now and Book IV: Force — which will follow Tommy, played by Joseph Sikora (Power) — has a 2022 date set. Power Book V: Influence is set to star Tate as Rashad Tate, but no word has been said on how that series is moving forward.
Power Book II: Ghost will premiere on Starz on November 21.
