Lakeith Stanfield to Lead ‘The Changeling’ at Apple TV+

Variety has confirmed that Lakeith Stanfield (Atlanta) will star in the television adaptation of Victor LaVelle’s novel, The Changeling, at Apple TV. Stanfield will also be on board as an executive producer.

The series is described as a fairy tale for grownups. According to Varietythe series will be a horror story, parenthood fable, and a journey through a New York City you didn’t know existed. Stanfield will play William O’Neal. The series got a straight-to-series order at Apple.

Stanfield is best known for his breakout role on FX’s Atlanta and received an Academy Award nomination for his supporting role on Judas and the Black Messiah as Fred Hampton. He is also known for starring in films such as Sorry to Bother YouThe PhotographUncut Gems, and Get Out.

Kelly Marcel (Cruella) is on board to write the series and will also serve as executive producer and showrunner. Melinda Matsoukas (Queen & Slim) will direct and executive produce, along with Megan Ellison (Zero Dark Thirty), Sue Neagle (Shirley), Patrick Chu (Miss Sloane), and Ali Krug (Monsterland) who are all tapped on as executive producers.

The original novel received critical acclaim and numerous awards and nominations, including receiving the 2018 British Fantasy Award for Horror Novel and the 2018 Locus Award for Horror Novel. It was named 7th among the “Top 10 Novels of 2017” by Time and listed in The New York Times“100 Notable Books of 2017”.

A release date was not announced for The Changeling.
