Apple TV+ has canceled the red carpet premiere for Severance season two, originally scheduled for January 13 at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles. The decision follows this week’s devastating wildfires in the area, which have left multiple neighborhoods in ruins.
According to a statement from Apple TV+ via Deadline, the company said, “As devastating wildfires continue to impact the Los Angeles area, and with safety as our first and foremost priority, we have made the decision to cancel Monday’s Severance Season two premiere event.
The wildfires, particularly the Sunset fire, forced the evacuation of nearby areas, including Hollywood Blvd. This prompted Apple’s action to cancel the event. Deadline reports that Apple CEO Tim Cook announced the company’s support, stating, “Apple is donating to support the relief efforts on the ground, and our thoughts and heartfelt support remain with everyone who has been affected by these tragic fires.”
The devastation caused by the fires in Los Angeles is heartbreaking. Thank you to the incredible firefighters, first responders, and all those assisting for your heroic efforts. Apple will be donating to support the victims and recovery efforts on the ground. https://t.co/9ry0olSQFh
