Krysten Ritter Announced as Lead in ‘Orphan Black: Echoes’

AMC’s Orphan Black sequel will premiere in 2023 with the new leading actress Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) starring as Lucy, according to ComicbookThe sequel Orphan Black: Echoes will follow group of women’s lives as they navigate through human existence and how it can be manipulated by scientific discovery. The sequel will be a thriller with mystery incorporated to uncover the women’s stories of love and betrayal, according to Comicbook

The addition of Ritter as the leading actress to the sequel creates significant buzz around the release of the Orphan Black sequel. Ritter has appeared in roles in major television shows, including Marvel’s Jessica Jones, Avengers: Infinity War, and Breaking Bad, according to Comicbook. With Ritter’s wide range of acting background, her appearance as the lead in Orphan Black: Echoes will widen the audience range of the sequel. Viewers will become a combination of those that had enjoyed Orphan Black or Ritter’s performance as Jessica Jones in the Marvel community.

In the previous series of Orphan Black, the lead was Tatiana Masley (Parks and Recreation). Masley had earned Emmy nominations and a win for her work with Orphan Black, according to Comicbook. Masley is now focusing on She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, where she will play Jennifer Walters. Since both leading actresses in Orphan Black and the sequel Orphan Black: Echoes have appeared in the Marvel community before or after their appearance in the science fiction community, the sequel will gain an audience from both the Marvel and science fiction communities.

Since Orphan Black has “had a remarkable run on BBC America,” according to Comicbook from AMC Studios, the Orphan Black: Echoes sequel has the anticipation of living up to the complex story that produced Emmy-winning performances. The addition of Ritter has the potential to help the sequel live up to the series starring Masley.

Anticipated viewers can expect more on the sequel in the upcoming months and the release in 2023.
