‘Krypton’ Gets a Premiere Date and Releases New Set Images

Syfy’s Krypton now has a premiere date: March 21. The network made the announcement on Thursday morning. The hour-long show will be focused on Superman’s family, General Zod, and other Kryptonian noble families. The show is going to be similar to the show Gothem (the origin story of Batman). Krypton is the origin story of Superman.

However, Krypton is going to be set two generations back from the destruction of the planet Krypton. The show is going to follow Superman’s grandfather Seg-El (played by Cameron Cuffe). At this point in time House of El has been ostracized. Superman’s grandfather is trying to redeem his family’s name, and save his planet.

Cuffe said this about the show to ComicBook.com. “It’s about the struggle of the House of El and how it redeems its honor. Very early on in our story though no fault of Seg’s own, he goes from the very top of Kryptonian society, this great House of El, and ends up growing up at the very bottom and having to struggle to survive… The story for Seg is how that symbol starts to mean what it means, and how he grows to fill it.”

House of El went from the top to the bottom, and now Seg tries to save his family’s legacy. However, Seg is faced with a challenge. Brainiac (Blake Ritson) and Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos) time travel to this point in time in Krypton’s history.

The Superman prequel series has executive producer David Goyer (The Dark Knight trilogy) accompanied by Cameron Welsh who is the showrunner.

This announcement also came with three images from the set.
