Deadline stated today that actor Kristoffer Polaha (Right Here Right Now, Life and Soul) will be portraying Dick Hall as a series regular in MGM+’s American Hostage. The character is the company president of Meridian Mortgage, who is taken hostage by Giovanni Ribisi’s Tony Kiritsis, who accuses Hall of being greedy. According to Deadline, American Hostage received the greenlight last April and is based on the first season of the scripted podcast with the same name. The series, based on a true story, is described as a psychological thriller set in the 1970s, and follows Jon Hamm (Hoppers, Grimsburg) as Fred Heckman, a well-known radio reporter from Indiana who finds himself in the middle of a hostage crisis when Tony Kiritsis demands an interview.
The series begins production this fall in Winnipeg, Canada, Deadline reports, and is being produced by Sony Pictures Television. Shawn Ryan (Liked, The Night Agent) and Eileen Myers (Queen Fur, Masters of Sex) will be the executive producers of the show. American Hostage also stars Mireille Enos (If I Stay Kat, For All Mankind) and William Jackson Harper (The Morning Show, A Man in Full). Other executive producers include Connie Tavel (Adulthood, Your Friends & Neighbors), Marney Hochman (The Night Agent, Timeless), Sharon Hoffman (Entertainment Tonight, CBS Mornings), Shawn Christensen (Hunted, Blackout), and Gabriel Mason (The Foxes of Hydesville, Kinda Murdery)
According to Deadline, Polaha is best known for his portrayal in The CW show Life Unexpected, a TV drama. Other credits include Paramount+’s Landman, Harlan Coben’s Shelter, Get Shorty, where he played opposite Ray Romano (Hope House, Bookie), and the limited series Condor, where he starred alongside the actor William Hurt (Black Widow, Goliath).
Film-wise, Deadline notes Polaha has also starred in Wonder Woman 1984 and Jurassic World Dominion.
