According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new iteration of the series will take place 8 years after the ending of the original show which ended back in 2012 and will evolve around new characters of the show, all of whom have yet to be announced. The series will focus on the ever-changing function that social media and an online presence has changed within the last several years and how that is to affect our new generation of characters. The producers of the show have reportedly sent word to the original series cast about the upcoming reboot and extended an invitation for them to make a special guest appearance.
