Kevin Smith Hosting ‘Crisis Of Infinite Earths’ After Show On The CW

The CW’s Crisis Of Infinite Earths has just gotten even bigger as Kevin Smith has announced he will officially be a part of the massive crossover event and the CW’s most ambitious project to date. According to Comicbook.com, the Clerks director confirmed that he will be hosting a special after show shortly following The Flash and Supergirl episodes that will take place during the Crisis event on December 8th and December 10th respectively.

Smith is no stranger when it comes to being a part of the CW’s Arrowverse, as he’s already sat in the director’s chair for episodes of The Flash and Supergirl. Given Smith’s long term relationship with the Arrowverse, both from the inside as a director, and the outside as a fan, it seems only fitting for Smith to be the voice for the Arrowverse’s most important event.

“After Crisis On Infinite Earths, watch the aftershow I’m hosting, CRISIS AFTERMATH! We’re gonna’ dive deep into one of the greatest crossover events in television history!” Smith said in his tweet.

And taking a deep dive into Crisis On Infinite Earths may be mandatory given its steep legacy and the potential depth of its story arc. Crisis On Infinite Earths was originally set in the comics as a colossal event that changed the terrain and direction of DC for years to come, the affects of which still echo even throughout today’s modern DC Comics. It featured DC characters across the multiverse, superheroes and supervillains, uniting against the AntiMonitor, a powerful being with an insatiable appetite for realities who threatened all of existence. The result of Crisis radically shifted DC’s timeline for decades and has its place in comic history as one of the most important and significant chapters in the history of comics. CW’s version of Crisis seems to strive to replicate the impact of its comics counterpart, as it’s been foreshadowed as early as the first season of The Flash, and has been an ominous, invisible presence in the Arrowverse since. Until the appearance of LaMonica Garrett’s The Monitor, a cosmic being assigning mysterious missions for the heroes in preparation for the long awaited Crisis.

Crisis On Infinite Earths is already living up to its own expectations with moves such as having Brandon Routh playing Superman, an obvious homage to his work as the Man Of Steel in Superman Returns. Crisis will also be bringing in Kevin Conroy, the voice of Batman from Batman The Animated Series, as well as Tom Welling and Erica Durance who will be reprising their roles as Smallville’s Clark Kent and Lois Lane.

Fans can expect Crisis On Infinite Earths to begin on December 8th with Supergirl.
