As Quibi continues to beef up its roster prior to its alleged Spring 2020 launch, they can add one more collaborator to their long list of actors, directors, and advertisers. Kevin Hart penned a deal with the small streaming platform for a comedic action series currently titled Action Scene. The show is said to be loosely based on the hectic, quirky opening sequence of his 2016 concert film, Kevin Hart: What Now?.
The official logline of the series reads:
A fictionalized version of [Hart] goes on a quest to land the action movie role of a lifetime. After being rejected for the role, Kevin randomly encounters a leading A-list action movie star. This inadvertently sets off a chain of events that causes Kevin to fight his way through a series of over-the-top action sequences with the help of some of Hollywood’s biggest action movie heroes.
In addition to starring, Hart will also executive produce with his veteran business partner, Jeff Clanagan. Clanagan serves as the president of Laugh Out Loud, a production company that focuses on bringing the biggest voices in comedy together for the purpose of creating original material including scripted series and stand-up specials. Laugh Out Loud runs its own streaming service, showcasing all sorts of programming and live broadcasts. According to the company, their award-winning series Cold As Balls has received over 250 million views.
As for Action Scene, Hart says, “I couldn’t be more excited to bring big action and even bigger laughs to a new audience through this partnership between Quibi and Laugh Out Loud. Our teams are working together to create something truly unique and I can’t wait for viewers to see it all unfold.”
Although, this isn’t the only thing occupying Hart’s time. The notorious go-getter has several projects in the works, one of which is to star in the upcoming Monopoly movie. Hart is also developing and acting in an American remake of the hit Korean comedy Extreme Job. Earlier this year Hart released Irresponsible, a stand-up special, on Netflix.
