Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is set to voice a Thanos-inspired villain in The Simpsons, Variety reports. This role, which is a tongue-in-cheek nod to Feige’s role in producing numerous Marvel Cinematic Universe films, is Feige’s voice acting debut.
The villain, named “Chinnos” in reference to Thanos’ distinctive chin, appears when Bart Simpson accidentally sees an unreleased superhero movie. Now knowing the plot of one of The Simpsons universe’s most anticipated films, Bart becomes the most powerful kid in Springfield. Bart uses this power for evil and becomes “Spoiler-Boy.” Anthony and Joe Russo, who directed Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, will voice the film executives who try to stop Bart from spoiling the movie.
However, Feige and the Russo brothers are not the only voice actors in the episode with ties to Marvel Studios. Cobie Smulders, who plays S.H.I.E.L.D. director Maria Hill in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and all four Avengers films, voices the character “Hydrangea.” Smulders’ real-life husband Taran Killam, who has not appeared in any Marvel movies, voices “Airshot.” Killam is best known for his work on Saturday Night Live since 2010.
In its run of more than 30 years, The Simpsons has poked fun at everything from Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining to the Environmental Protection Agency, but this episode will be the series’ first satirical depiction of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The MCU has been a pop culture phenomenon for more than a decade, so it was only a matter of time before The Simpsons made an episode about the popular superhero movie franchise. It is currently unknown whether or not the animated series will continue to parody at the MCU in future episodes, but given Marvel Studios’ extensive timeline of future projects, it is well within the realm of possibility.
The episode, titled “Bart the Bad Guy,” airs Sunday, March 1 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox. It will be the fourteenth episode of the long-running animated series’ 31st season.
