The Bondsman, a genre action series from creator Grainger David (Pete Smalls Is Dead, The Edge Of The Woods) starring Kevin Bacon (Footloose, You Should Have Left) has cast Jennifer Nettles (The Exorcist, Harriet), and it has been ordered straight to series in June. She’ll play his love interest in the show. Blumhouse TV is the source of the project for Prime Video. She’ll play his love interest in the show.
According to Deadline, Nettles will play Maryanne, the wife of former bounty hunter Hub Halloran, played by Bacon, who returns, who returns from the dead with an unexpected second chance at love, life, and a nearly forgotten musical career only to discover that his former profession has taken on a new sinister twist.
Through his production company CrimeThink, which has a deal at the streamer, Erik Oleson (Daredevil, The Man In The High Castle), who was the showrunner for the second season of Prime Video’s Carnival Row, will be the showrunner for The Bondsman, which will have eight half-hour episodes.
Along with Paul Shapiro (The Lotus Eaters, Heroes) for CrimeThink and Jason Blum (Get Out, BlacKkKlansman), Chris Dickie (Totally Killer, Black Box), Bacon, Jeremy Gold (Mr.Harrigan’s Phone, Sharp Objects), and Chris McCumber (The Visitor, The Horror Of Dolores Roach) for Blumhouse Television, David serves as an executive producer.
Nettles has received multiple platform Grammy and Emmy awards as an entertainer. In addition to her seasonally-long return to the HBO hit series The Righteous Gemstones as Aimee-Leigh, she most recently starred in Blumhouse’s reimagining of The Exorcist. She additionally appeared in the Harriet Tubman biopic called Focus Features.

She starred as Donna in the Hollywood Bowl’s summer production of Mamma Mia!, as well as recently as Jenna in the musical Waitress. Nettles made her Broadway debut in 2015 as Roxy Hart in the Tony Award-winning musical Chicago. She is currently working on a musical about Giulia Tofana, a crusading poisoner from the seventeenth century.
