Deadline reports that Kevin Bacon (Bored to Death, City on a Hill) will star in Prime Video’s action/horror series The Bondsman. It was created and written by Grainger David (The Chair, The Edge of the Woods) and is produced by Blumhouse Television. The series will be eight half-hour episodes.
David is best known for his short film The Chair, which screened in competition for the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. He is represented by Cohen Gardner and Grandview.
This will be Bacon’s return to Prime Video after starring in I Love Dick in 2019. Bacon is represented by Johnson, Shapiro, Slewett, & Cole, Viewpoint, and MGMT.
Erik Olsen (The Man in the High Castle, Daredevil) will serve as showrunner through his CrimeThink production company. Olsen recently served as showrunner for the second season of Prime Video’s Carnival Row, which aired February 17, 2023.
The Bondsman follows Bacon’s Hub Halloran. Hub is a backwoods bounty hunter who comes back from the dead with an unforeseen second chance at life, love, and an almost-forgotten music career, although he discovers his old job has a new demonic twist.
The series is based on an original idea from David. Production on The Bondsman will not begin until labor negotiations are resolved, according to Deadline.
Executive producers of the series include David, Bacon, Chris Dickie (Secret Agent Man, The Outer Limits), Chris McCumber (A House on the Bayou, Mr. Harrigan’s Phone), Jeremy Gold (Sharp Objects, Black Box), and Jason Blum (Insidious: The Red Door, Five Nights at Freddy’s) for Blumhouse Television, along with Paul Shapiro (V.C. Andrews’ Heaven, Against the Wall) for CrimeThink.
Blumhouse has another horror series with Prime Video, The Horror of Dolores Roach, which will premiere on July 7.
