According to Deadline, it has been confirmed that the next horror novel to be adapted into a TV series is Keith Rosson’s Coffin Moon.
The team that signed onto this project with Paramount Television Studios includes Iron Ocean with actress Jessica Biel (7th Heaven, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), television producer Michelle Purple (Cruel Summer, The Sinner) with writers Noah Harpster and Micah Fitzerman-Blue (A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil).
Paramount Television Studios is not new to book TV adaptations. Deadline included that “the spy thriller The Ambler Warning, based on Robert Ludlum’s bestselling novel, which Deadline announced as being in development last October. Biel is set to star and executive produce The Ambler Warning.” Paramount Television Studios has also acquired the rights to books for TV adaptions such as You Can’t Catch Me by Catherine McKenzie, The Library Book by Susan Orlean and Dead Money by Jakob Kerr.
This wasn’t the only announcement for Coffin Moon. Deadline also stated that “The announcement arrives on the same day Random House releases Coffin Moon in paperback.” Coffin Moon was only released on hardcover until now. This book has themes of horror, thriller, crime, and vampires. Coffin Moon is a stand alone book set in 1975 in Portland, Oregon following the main character Duane Minor, a Vietnam War veteran who struggles with PTSD.
Coffin Moon has over 15,000 ratings on Goodreads and has received an Audie award nomination this year for Best Horror Novel. Coffin Moon has even impressed and appeared on Stephen King‘s (The Shining, IT) radar.
There has been no official announcement yet to when the Coffin Moon TV series will be in production or when they will start filming. Audiences will just have to wait and see how the book will be directly translated visually onto our screens.
