Katy Perry will debut her first single titled ‘Roar’ from her forthcoming album at the VMAs, MTV announced yesterday.
The pop star’s VMA appearance will be the new song’s first performance. The MTV Video Music Awards will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on August 25.
To build up to Perry’s live show, MTV’s 24-hour music channel MTV Hits will feature an hour block of Perry performances and music videos today.
The pop star is familiar to the VMAs, winning four awards, including Video of the Year for her song “Firework”. The 2009 VMAs is also where Perry met her now ex-husband Russell Brand.
“Roar” is a part of Perry’s highly anticipated third album PRISM, which is scheduled for release on October 22.
