Katie Couric recently renewed a deal with Yahoo to remain a news anchor for its global coverage.
When Couric first signed the contract with the Internet service, they agreed to pay her $6 million. Now, they raised her pay to $10 million, according to Variety.
A Yahoo representative stated, “We can confirm that Katie continues to be Yahoo’s global news anchor. We don’t comment on rumors, speculation or personnel matters.”
Prior to joining the team at Yahoo, Couric worked for ABC. On ABC she not only worked as an actor, but she also hosted her own show, Katie.
Internet companies are clearly beginning to compete with regular news programs. Couric will still be a special contributor on NBC News, despite the change in focus to Yahoo. Yahoo is hoping that this signing with Couric will turn out to be a smart investment.
Katie Couric will not only appear on Yahoo’s Global Coverage, but she will continue to appear on NBC News.
