Netflix’s romantic comedy series Love has added two new characters for its next season, reports Deadline. Actors Kathy Baker (Edward Scissorhands, The Age of Adaline) and Kyle Bornheimer (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Agent Carter) have both been cast in recurring roles for the show’s upcoming Season 3. Baker will play Vicki, mother to Gus, one of the show’s main characters, while Bornheimer will play Ken, Gus’s older brother.
Love, produced by Judd Apatow and written by Apatow, Paul Rust (who plays Gus on the show), and Leslie Arfin, has been one of Netflix’s smaller hits. The series, described by creators as a “down-to-earth look at dating”, follows main characters Gus and Mickey (played by Gillian Jacobs) as they messily navigate their relationship, careers, friendships, and general life in Los Angeles. Love‘s latest season premiered this past March, and the Season 3 renewal was announced before Season 2 even premiered.
Earlier in February, it was also announced that Chris Witaske, who plays Gus’ friend Chris on the series, has been bumped up to a series regular for Season 3. Season 2 revealed some secrets in Mickey’s life, delving into her family dynamic by exploring her relationship with her father as well as reflecting on some of her past relationships through a subplot in which she cheats on Gus with one of her exes. These casting announcements appear to indicate that Season 3 will serve to shed further light on Gus’ character through more screen time with Chris and the introduction of some family members.
A release date has not yet been set for Love Season 3. The complete Seasons 1 and 2 can be seen on Netflix.
